Arroyo & Arroyo: meeting in ValSotillo.

The Californian winemaker Vincent Arroyo, who runs a winery in Calistoga, visited recently (on Saturday 17th of July)  Bodegas Ismael Arroyo, a family winery in Ribera del Duero, (Spain).

It was an interesting meeting between two winemakers who share the same surname, Arroyo, because Vincent Arroyo’s granfather was born in Spain (Salamanca), and migrated to the States in 1914.

The Washington Post Reviews Valsotillo

The Washington Post
published last 28th of April a good review of Valsotillo Crianza 2004. The reviewer’s punctuation mark was two stars and a half (on a scale of 1 to 3) and described Valsotillo Crianza 2004 as a rich and complex wine, with berry flavours, dark colour and good tannins which give structure to the wine.

Other prestigious magazines in the United States, as Wine Spectator and Wine & Spirits, also published in april different reviews about our wines: Valsotillo Reserva 2004, Valsotillo Crianza 2005, Valsotillo Gran Reserva 1999 and Mesoneros de Castilla Tinto Roble.

Valsotillo Took Part in the ‘Grand Tasting’ of Ribera del Du

Bodegas Ismael Arroyo was one of the 125 wineries selected to take part in the Gran Tasting hosted by Drink Ribera, Drink Spain in New York City on February 23, 2010. Over 700 professionals and guests gathered at the Puck Building in lower Manhattan.

Ramón Arroyo and his importer in the U.S., Estebe Salgado (Tradewinds), shared the tasting of Valsotillo wines with many visitors and friends, as Gustavo Iniesta, sommelier in La Taberna del Alabardero, Spanish restaurant in Washington, Mr. Miller, from Solera restaurant in New York, and Elio San Miguel, from Instituto Miguel de Cervantes, where he has organised tastings with Valsotillo wines.

Wine of the Month in Taberna del Alabardero, in Washington

Taberna del Alabardero, the Spanish restaurant that Luis Lezama opened in Washington 20 years ago, has selected the wine Valsotillo Crianza 2004  as Wine of the Month. The sommelier Gustavo Iniesta has been offering this wine during all January at a special price, pointing up its deep cherry colour, clean and complex in the nose, with Rich fruity, aromas of black fruit, dry prune and minerals, and with a lot of backbone and lingering.
