 Valsotillo Gran Reserva 1994, one of the ‘historic’ wines of Bodegas Ismael Arroyo, was selected to take part in a prestigious tasting in Germany, organized by ICEX, to present the best wines from Spain, made with the grapes from the 64, 68, 70, 72 and 94 vintages.
The Top sommelieres in Germany where invited to taste these wines, which represent the best winemaking in Spain during the last decades.
The wine tasting took place in the Nassauer Hof Hotel, situated in the city of Wiesbaden and was led by David Schwarzwälder, a German journalist who especializes in wines, and the reputable sommelier Peer F. Holm.

 Repsol Wine Guide 2010 shows a list of the Best Wines from Spain. The list includes some of the wines of Bodegas Ismael Arroyo: Valsotillo VS Reserva Especial 2004, which gets 92 points, Valsotillo Reserva 2004 (92), Valsotillo Crianza 2005 (90) and Mesoneros de Castilla Tinto Roble 2008 (91).
Furthermore, the October 2010 issue of the Spanish magazine Restauradores offers an interesting report about the Best Wines from Spain. The tasters have selected Valsotillo VS Reserva Especial 2004 (91 points) and comment that it is an elegant Ribera del Duero wine, with the tradicional flavours of a good reserva, difficult to find nowadays in the modern winemaking.

 Sotillo de la Ribera, a 13 de septiembre de 2010.- Alrededor de 60 coleccionistas de coches antiguos procedentes de la ciudad francesa de Toulouse realizaron hoy lunes 13 de septiembre una visita a Bodegas Ismael Arroyo (Valsotillo) en Sotillo de la Ribera.
Las instalaciones de esta bodega fueron durante varias horas el escaparate de una treintena de vehículos de colección, de las marcas Bugatti, Jaguar, Mercedes, Delahaye, Delage, Peugeot, Hotchkiss, Citroën y BMW, de los años 1930 a 1960. Entre ellos, destacaba un antiguo Bugatti y un espectacular Delahaye que sus propietarios actuales valoran en un millón de euros. |

 The Californian winemaker Vincent Arroyo, who runs a winery in Calistoga, visited recently (on Saturday 17th of July) Bodegas Ismael Arroyo, a family winery in Ribera del Duero, (Spain).
It was an interesting meeting between two winemakers who share the same surname, Arroyo, because Vincent Arroyo’s granfather was born in Spain (Salamanca), and migrated to the States in 1914.
