ValSotillo as a Top Ribera

Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator select ValSotillo as a Top Ribera

ValSotillo Reserva 2004 is a Top wine from Ribera del Duero, according to Wine Enthusiast magazine. The October 2010 issue  offers a wide report about the Ribera del Duero region and some of the best wines made there.

Michael Schachner says that Ribera del Duero is a region on the rise and explains how it has improved in wineries, tourist services and quality of the wines.

ValSotillo Reserva 2004 gets 93 points and WE tasters say about it:  Earthy aromas, blend perfectly with bright fruit scents. Lively berry flavours and a dose of chocolate steal the show. Drink now through 2018.

Wine Spectator magazine has also reviewed some of the wines of Bodegas Ismael Arroyo recently: ValSotillo Gran Reserva 1999, ValSotillo Reserva 2004, ValSotillo Crianza 2005 and Mesoneros de Castilla 2006. The Reserva gets 92 points and tasters say that it delivers blackberry, espresso, licorice, mineral and floral flavours over firm and fresh tannins, and that it is a solid, focused and lively wine. ValSotillo Gran Reserva 1999 is described as “elegant and with a traditional style”. And the tasters comment that  the crianza has an unusual concentration and power.

Bodegas Ismael Arroyo exports  40% of their production in wines. The second main market is the USA.
