Valsotillo
VS 40 aniversario
Bottled on the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of our winery.
Unique wine made with selected grapes from more than hundred year old vines located in hills, in areas of poor production in Sotillo de la Ribera.
2016 was a year with a fresh winter and a rainy spring, but with a dry and hot summer.
The harvest began on 6th October, always done manually in small baskets, and selecting the best clusters directly from the vineyard.
Our vineyards are planted with a single grape variety, Tinta del País (Tempranillo), located on south-facing slopes, on clay-chalk soils, and trained in the traditional pruning system.
Once we have the grapes in the cellar, we destalk them and proceed with the cold maceration of the berries in our stainless -steel tanks, where the alcoholic fermentation begins and later on the malolactic fermentation takes place.
This wine has been kept in American and French oak barriques for 24 months in our XVI century underground cellar, with a constant temperature of 12º C, something that makes our wines have an excellent ageing potential and keep elegance and a richer profile.
Once bottled, the wine stays in the underground cellar until being released in the market.
Alcohol degree: 14,5% vol.
Limited production: only 9.820 bottles of 75 cl and 198 Magnum bottles.
TASTING NOTES
Cherry-red coloured with garnet-coloured rim.
Genuine aromas obtained from this grape variety and from the soil itself, tones of ripe fruit, fine spices, creamy and toasted oak.
In the mouth it is very well-structured and balanced, with a long and elegant aftertaste.
It is an exclusive wine with an extraordinary progress ability and potential to be kept for a long time.
